Awareness week highlights efforts to fight antibiotic resistance through antibiotic stewardship (11/13/2017)

Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest public health threats of the 21st century—in Minnesota and across the globe. Every year, approximately 2 million Americans develop an antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection and at least 23,000 of them die. Health officials urge parents and hospitals to take action during Infant Safe Sleep (11/08/2017)

New data show unsafe sleep environments account for nearly all unexpected infant deaths in Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Department of Human Services are marking Infant Safe Sleep Week (November 5-11) by encouraging parents to know the ABCs of safe sleep and encouraging hospitals to become safe sleep certified. Parents, the time is now – it’s Let’s Talk Month (10/05/2017)

The Minnesota Department of Health wants to turn some of those tales into helpful advice for other parents. The health department is asking parents to share their tips and stories. The effort is part of Let’s Talk Month, a chance to “Make a Date” to have open, honest conversation with young people to foster responsible and positive attitudes toward sexuality and healthy relationships.
