James L. Reinertsen Lecture: “Achieving Health Equity by Design”
November 5, 2015 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
The James L. Reinertsen Lecture series is an annual event hosted by the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement (ICSI) and named in honor of James L. Reinertsen, MD, the founding chair of ICSI. The series shares insights and inspiration about current health topics.
Thomas A. LaVeist, PhD, director of the Hopkins Center for Health Disparities Solutions, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, is delivering this year’s lecture. He believes we need to broaden our expectations of what a health care system can do to achieve health equity. To make real progress, Dr. LaVeist asserts hospitals, clinicians and others in health care need to redesign services to promote health equity and go outside their clinical walls to build partnerships with community agencies and other resources. At this year’s Reinertsen lecture, he will share real-life, practical examples that can be replicated here in Minnesota.
Reception 5 to 6:00 p.m.
Lecture 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. More details and RSVP by Oct 29 with ICSI.
