An updated design of MN Community Measurement’s public-reporting, consumer-facing website, MNHealthScores.org, launched today after a year-long redesign process.
MNHealthScores fulfills a significant portion of MNCM’s mission to publicly reporting health care information. Publicly-available data drives improvement in the cost, quality and patient experience of health care by engaging both consumers and providers.
The redesigned MNHealthScores better meets the needs of Minnesota health care consumers. To actively participate in their care and help drive improvement, consumers must understand and be able to use the information that MNCM reports. The new site features consumer-friendly data displays that represent best practices gleaned from more than a decade of academic research on consumer interpretation of health care cost and quality data displays. The data displays highlight a HealthScore for each clinic, medical group or hospital for each measure. This HealthScore is an easy-to-understand icon and label that groups data into clear groupings. This provides consumers with important context to understand what constitutes a “good” rate.
Throughout this redesign project, a variety of stakeholders provided input, including consumers, providers, employers, payers and others. Additionally, we conducted extensive testing with consumers to be sure the new site was user-friendly and easy to understand. Finally, all clinics and medical groups whose data is displayed on the site were given an opportunity to preview their HealthScore results, and attend a webinar to preview the new website design.
