"The two words ‘information’ and ‘communication’ are often used interchangeably, but they signify quite different things. Information is giving out; communication is getting through." -- Sydney J. Harris

Alignment Discussions Continue at MNCM

Alignment of local and national measurement initiatives continues to be a top priority for MN Community Measurement (MNCM). Alignment was the primary topic at the MNCM Board of Directors 2016 strategic planning retreat in August and was a topic of discussion at the Measurement and Reporting Committee (MARC) in September.

Both the Board and the MARC discussions centered around three questions:

  1. Medicare Measurement Strategies: How can MNCM best support our local stakeholders in adapting to the changes in Medicare due to MACRA?
  2. MN Public Programs and Insurance Exchange Measurement Strategies: How can MNCM best support the future measurement needs for Minnesota Public Programs and the Exchange?
  3. Public Policy Initiatives: What public policy initiatives should MNCM pursue over the next three years?

The recent meetings on alignment continue a dialogue from June when MNCM hosted a joint meeting of the MNCM Board, MARC and community stakeholders to discuss the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) and its implications for aligning measurement in Minnesota. About 60 people participated in the June discussion.

MNCM will continue to pursue answers to the alignment questions, develop an action plan, as well as possible action items for the MNCM Board to consider in the coming weeks and months.
