Marie Zimmerman, Assistant Commissioner for Health Care and State Medicaid Director; Beth Thomas, DO, Associate Chief Medical Officer and VP of Safety for Fairview Health Services; and Andy Cochrane, Chief Executive Officer of Maple Grove Hospital have joined MNCM’s Board of Directors.
Marie Zimmerman serves as Assistant Commissioner for Health Care and State Medicaid Director. She oversees and leads the major functions of Minnesota’s Medicaid program, Medical Assistance, and its Basic Health Plan, MinnesotaCare, the program which provide health coverage to 1.2 million Minnesotans. Zimmerman has a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Dr. Beth Thomas is the Associate Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Safety for Fairview Health Services. In this role, she is responsible for clinical safety for the community hospitals, clinics, senior services, home care/hospice and other clinical services across the organization. In addition, Dr. Thomas has accountability in partnership with Human Resources for employee safety. A general surgeon by training, Dr. Thomas has held a variety of leadership roles within the Fairview organization. She received her BA from Bethel University and her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (Midwestern University). She completed her General Surgical Residency at New Britain General Hospital/University of Connecticut and is board certified in general surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Andy Cochrane serves as Chief Executive Officer of Maple Grove Hospital. Prior to relocating to Minnesota, Andy was Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and Senior Vice President of Houston Methodist Hospital System in Houston, Texas. He also spent 12 years in various executive positions in Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia. Andy earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Marketing as well as a Master of Science Degree in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
